I can never say no to a good lumber deal!
One thing I have a hard time saying no to is free lumber. Around the homestead you can always use good wood. Last summer I sold some 4X4 posts on a local classified. One of the gentlemen that purchased some wood gave me a call last week and asked if I could help him retrieve some lumber, and as payment I could have a large portion. At first, I was really hesitant. But after seeing the 42′ long pallets that came all the way from Italy my mind could not stop thinking about all the things I could do with all that awesome wood. So I called a friend who had the trailer and crane and we worked out a deal to retrieve the lumber and split it three ways. We cut my portion into 14′ – 17′ sections. Total, I will get over 20 beams that are over 200 pounds each and several hundred rough cut 2″x 2″x8′ boards. Plus 8 (8″x8″x8′) beams and around 20 (6″x8″x8′) beams. I am so excited! That’s over 8,000 pounds of lumber that was one day away from going to the dump.
